Take it from me it's not worth the money and DON'T BUY THIS MAT. I am highly unsatisfied with the overall perfomance. The only thing this mat is good for is disapointment:( I first ordered another mat so me and my siblings could play, but when I received the package there were no wierd smells, it worked fine with the game, BUT the only problem I have is when we use it it bunches up under your feet and it does not stay flat. It is very annoying and we hate to use it but I wish I could have read the reviews before purchasing this mat.

What a disappointment. After purchasing the dance mat and sending it to Amman, Jordan,for my son the mat does not work.
One star is given because that is minimum, otherwise I would have chosen 0. Only positive was Amazon's prompt and courteous customer service for the refund and return. These mats are junk. 2 of three did not work, third worked for 10 minutes.
All in all well worth the money. I play on carpet and think it's just fine. Saying the new plastic chemical smell is strong would be an easy understatement. We bought 3 so we could play the game in four player mode. I smell it but I'm not that concerned enough to give 10 more dollars per mat to the wii movement. I must admit I was quite annoyed when I plugged the mat into the wii and realized I could not control anything.
I find it just as responsive as the mat that came with the game (although I do not play the game on expert so who knows what would happen if I needed to get my true dance dance on).Drawbacks: It does stink. My sister even prefers this mats surface to the original because your feet will stick a little if you play barefoot on the Konami pad. After better inspection of the box I realized DDR2 was not one of the games the mat was pre-compatible with and that I needed to go online to order my free adapter. I've noticed other people have complained about the 'slipperyness' of the mat. DDR is fun by yourself but the laughs and enjoyment with multiple players is endless. Five days later the adapter arrived and the mat works fine.
For those that are sensitive I recommend just spending the 10 extra bucks and buying the Konami version.
